Professor Lea Jacobs’s New Book: Film Rhythm after Sound

Communication Arts Professor Lea Jacobs, who is currently Associate Vice Chancellor for Arts & Humanities, has published her fourth book, Film Rhythm after Sound: Technology, Music, and Performance. In it, Professor Jacobs’s analyzes the evolution of sound, movement, and editing of film during the transition from the silent film era to the first talkies. She utilizes a range of case studies to develop her analysis, and also delves into contemporary sound-film practices.
