Shuvam is a grad student in Media and Cultural Studies. His paper “Laughing bodies and the tickle machine: understanding the YouTube pipeline through alt-right humour” examined the weaponization of derisive laughter by the far-right in North America. Shuvam’s current research focuses on the systematic production of laughter as a tool of oppression in popular Indian film, television, and social media.
