Madison Barnes-Nelson (she/her) is a Ph.D. student in Media and Cultural Studies. Her research focuses on media audiences, television and film comedy, and the production, representation, and reception of identities in media. She has presented her research at conferences including Society for Cinema and Media Studies, International Communication Association, and Console-ing Passions.
Madison’s current projects include:
- How audiences make meaning of comedy across television, film, and digital media
- Feminism and comedy TV
- Gender, race, sexuality, youth, and national identity in the media
