Emmy Award-winning comedy writer, actor, and Communication Arts alum Brian Stack (’88) visited UW–Madison on September 14.
Stack graciously spent part of his morning at a Q&A with Comm Arts students, and in the evening was the featured guest of an event hosted by the Wisconsin Alumni Association, “A Conversation with Brian Stack.” At the events, Stack shared stories and experiences from his time writing for Late Night with Conan O’Brien, where he worked for nearly two decades. Now working on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he also fielded many questions about what it’s like to work with Colbert, especially in today’s political climate.
During the Q&A, the students were particularly interested in how Stack got his start and how he keeps his writing sharp after years in the business. Stack was open and honest, and went into detail about his work in the television industry, as well as his insights into preparedness, opportunity, and work ethic. All the while he had everyone in the room laughing and smiling.
We give a tremendous thank you to Brian for spending time with us at UW!
