Communication Arts professor Lyn Van Swol and her former advisee Cassandra Hill (now an assistant professor at Carolina Coastal University) recently received the Dennis Gouran Research Award at the National Communication Association for best published paper in group communication. Their article, “Language Use and Influence Among Minority, Majority, and Homogeneous Group Members,” was published in Communication Research in 2017. It explores how minority and majority members in a group use pronouns and whether use of certain pronouns, like “we” or “you,” affect influence in the group.
Congratulations, Lyn and Cassandra!
