Allison Prasch is the winner of the Center for the Humanities First Book Program Award for her manuscript “The Global Rhetorical Presidency: Cold War Rhetoric on the World Stage.” The program supports tenure-track, junior faculty in the humanities and interpretive social sciences with manuscripts that are near completion to turn solid and promising manuscripts into first-rate, field-shaping books. “The Global Rhetorical Presidency” asks when, where, how, and by what means U.S. presidents used their rhetoric overseas to extend the United States’ international influence, expand the reach of presidential power in foreign affairs, and bolster their own image at a time of significant global expansion and integration.
