Every year, the Communication Arts department gives back to its students with a series of scholarships aimed to help Comm Arts’ hardest working majors. These scholarships are possible through the generosity of our alumni and friends. This week marks students’ last chance to apply for a trio of excellent opportunities: The Charline M. Wackman Award, the Christopher Neil Heinlein Memorial Scholarship, and the Keith Harris Wyche Memorial Scholarship.
Check out which scholarship you may be eligible for this year:
The Charline M. Wackman Award: This scholarship fund provides one-time awards to Wisconsin residents with junior or senior standing who have been admitted to the Communication Arts major. Scholarships are awarded in three categories: academic achievement (cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher), project proposals (senior thesis or artistic performance), or service to the Communication Arts Department and its mission. Students should indicate which category they are applying for when beginning the application. Past recipients may apply. Award amount: $500-2500.
The Christopher Neal Heinlein Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship fund provides one-time awards to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have been admitted to the Communication Arts major. Applicants should demonstrate the following character traits: good-natured, kind, personable, a sense of humor, hard-working, and an interest in the arts. Academic and artistic achievement as well as financial need are considered. Preference will be given to students who come from urban areas of the east coast. Past recipients may apply. Award amount: $500-1500.
The Keith Harris Wyche Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship fund provides one-time awards to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have been admitted to the Communication Arts major and have at least a 2.8 GPA in their major coursework. Students from underrepresented populations or who have financial need will be given preference. Award amount: $400.
