In our contemporary media environment, more news about politics is created and consumed than ever before, but by smaller and smaller numbers of people than in previous decades. In this class we explore how political issues are communicated and debated in the media, and how they are understood (or not) by individual media users, with an eye toward how these dynamics impact the health of communication processes in democratic systems.
