A Generous Gift from Communication Arts Alumni

Engineer Boyd Hillestad operates the Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner.

Over the last year, the Department of Communication Arts, the Wisconsin Center for Film and Theater Research, and scholars from around the country have benefited from a generous gift made by Communication Arts alumni. The Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner installed in June, 2018 replaced the Department’s telecine machine, enabling Communication Arts to digitize more types of film, including damaged and warped film, which were not possible with the telecine.
