The Communication Arts Partners (CAPS) board was delighted to welcome Dru Korab (BA’06) to the committee this past fall. CAPS members volunteer their time and knowledge to support the Department’s teaching, research, and outreach activities. With a seasoned career in video production, Korab has a wide range of ideas and experience that are sure to benefit the Communication Arts community.
Shortly after graduating from the Radio, TV, Film track in Communication Arts, Korab worked on production for a local cooking show in Madison, as well as for the UW Health Department. Following these opportunities, he moved to California where he worked as a producer and editor on various broadcast shows for MTO Productions, then worked as the VP of Production at Rev New Media, and then as the Principal Owner of WG Visual. Over the years, Korab’s production companies have worked with notable brands such as Amazon, Warner Brothers, Harvard University, Beats byDre, LA Kings/Galaxy, Pepsico, and more. After working in Los Angeles for 15 years, Korab returned to Wisconsin and continues running his production company, Best Efforts.
Korab decided to join the CAPS board after hearing about the work it does for Communication Arts from his friend and fellow CAPS board member, Rick Stoner. He hopes to be a hands-on asset for the CAPS board, whether that be through fundraising, promotion, or video work. “I’m excited to hop in and be a resource for Comm Arts moving forward,” Korab said.
After nearly two decades of success in the field, Korab is excited to share his experience and advise with students in the department.
“Keep innovating. The times are changing, the technology is changing. Learn from your elders and make new mistakes yourself on your way to discover what you want to do in the field,” he advised for current students.
As the CAPS board gears up to meet later this spring for their first bi-annual meeting of 2025, the group is eager to implement ways to help the department communicate, fundraise, and best prepare students for their careers.
