At the 2011 Department of Communication Arts Awards Luncheon, Lee de Boer (B.A. ’74) received the second annual Outstanding Alumnus Award for his many accomplishments in television, cable, and new media. Perhaps his biggest accomplishment was his role as one of the principal architects of Time-Warner’s Home Box Office (HBO) expansion. De Boer led the development and launch of Cinemax, Comedy Central, and HBO Asia. After playing a central leadership role at Time-Warner from 1976 until 1995, de Boer founded his own consulting company, Media Futures. Today, industry professionals continue to seek out de Boer to serve as chair and CEO. De Boer now serves as one of the co-founding partners at Propeller Partners LLC, a boutique strategic advisory services firm serving many media and entertainment companies.
