AUDIO/VISUAL
Q. I am a Comm Arts faculty/staff/TA teaching in Humanities and need a TV cart. Can I wheel one from 3160 Vilas Hall over the bridge or across the street to my class?
A. Unfortunately, we have had TVs fall off of carts while being transported to the Humanities building. You won't be able to leave the building with any of the Audio/Visual carts.

KEYS
Q. How do I get a key for 4028 or 4008 Vilas Hall?
4028 and 4008 Vilas Hall are under the care and maintenance of Classroom Media Support. They are responsible for distributing keys and training faculty and staff on the use of the equipment. Please contact Mike Wood at (608) 265-9713 or mwood@fpm.wisc.edu to get set up.  If it is an emergency, however, we are available to assist you (263-6664).

Q. How do I get a key for the other Vilas Hall classrooms?
With the exception of 4028 and 4008, keys for the 4th floor classrooms are distributed by the staff in the Instructional Media Center in 3160 Vilas Hall. Please contact Andy Schlachtenhaufen or Joel Ninmann at 263-6664 to arrange to get a key for the semester. If you need it infrequently, you can also check one out on an AS NEEDED basis.

Q. Where do I get a key for the research room? How about 4050 Vilas Hall?
These keys are available through the Instructional Media Center in 3160 Vilas Hall. You must be approved and on a list provided by Professors Pan or Hullett to access those rooms.  You will not be given a key if you are not on that list.

ROOMS
Q. Where is the Instructional Media Center (3160 Vilas)?

Enter on the Park Street & University Avenue side of the building, either by the accessible ramp or stairway. Enter the glass doors and walk towards the elevators. To the right of the elevators, you'll see a doorway to a very long room. This is 3160 Vilas Hall, or the Instructional Media Center.

Q. How do I get to room 3155? 3153?
3155 Vilas Hall is accessible through Room 3160 Vilas.  Enter on the Park Street & University Avenue side of the building. When you see the red elevators, continue on into 3160 Vilas Hall. Walk through 3160 and through the doorway on the other side of the room. Make a right. Walk down the hall and to your left is 3155. If you keep walking straight, you run into 3153. Here's a floorplan to help you.

Q. Where is 4070 Vilas Hall?
A. 4070 Vilas Hall is located in the center mezzanine of Vilas Hall. It is also known as the Parliamentary Room. It is accessible from the Park Street stairs or the stairs facing the University Square Four mall.

Q. How do I get to the Mitchell Theater? Helmsley Theater?
A. These theaters are located on University Avenue on the corner of the building near University Square Four's parking lot.

Q. What are the hours of the 3160 Vilas Hall - Instructional Media Center?
A. The hours are available online on the IMC's webpage.

EQUIPMENT CHECKOUT
Q. Where do I go to reserve a camera for 355? How do I do that? What do I need to do first?
A. Please talk to your TA. Your TA will have set up a date when 355 students can begin reserving cameras. On that date, we will confirm that you have filled out a Borrowing Agreement, and you will be asked to review our Equipment Checkout Policy and to take a quiz on the information. You can then reserve equipment for class.

Q. Can I check out film or video equipment from the Communication Arts Instructional Media Center if I am not in the Com Arts Department?
A. The Department's film and video equipment is only available for insturctional use. Only students currently enrolled in production classes may use this equipment.

Q. Can I check out film and video equipment if I am a Comm Arts major or graduate student but am not currently enrolled in a production course?
A. The equipment is only for instructional use and therefore, only available for students currently enrolled in the production courses.

Q. Can I use your editing suites even though I am not in a Comm Arts production course?
A. Our Final Cut Pro lab is only available to those currently taking Communication Arts production courses.
